   Concord Contra Challenge

What is the Challenge?

5 Dance Events in 5 days, beginning and ending at the Concord Scout House -- with all of NEFFA in between.

Due to personal conflicts, the CCC will be on hiatus for 2012. We hope to return for 2013.

For 2011, recruits' tour of duty begins at the Thursday, April 14th Scout House Dance, will continue with Friday through Sunday at the NEFFA Festival and conclude back at the Scout House Monday Contras on April 18th 2011. (For this year only, you may optionally meet the Sunday dance requirement via the BIDA dance in Cambridge.)

How do I participate?

  1. Sign up in advance!  We may have to limit participation and registration will be first-come, first-served.  On-line registration closes at Midnight (Eastern time) on 4/13/11, or once we fill all available slots - whichever happens first.
  2. Show up and dance at the Thursday dance on 4/14/11, check in at the break with the Contra Challenge team.  Get your list of Contra Challenge punch locations and times.
  3. Show up at NEFFA.  Secure your weekend long or equivalent separate session pass(es), a.k.a. badges.  At specified contra events on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday, obtain your required campaign punches on your badge.
  4. Show up at the Monday dance on 4/18/11 with your NEFFA badge(s) with required punches and dance!  We'll have our awards ceremony following the break in the dance, at ~9:30.

What do I get?

For recruits that complete the series, their efforts will be recognized in an awards ceremony at the Monday night dance after NEFFA at the Concord Scout House.  Plus they'll get:

  1. a neat certificate
  2. a special-issue Contraista dog tag
  3. a permanent place in the CCC Hall of Fame, and
  4. the honor of being one of the few -- the crazy few -- known as Contraistas!

How can I help?

Get the word out - mention it to your friends, print out some of our flyers and take them to your area dances, etc.

Questions?

Send them to contrachallenge+2011((AT))gmail((DOT))com and we'll build a FAQ list here to share.

Your challengers,

John Wasser, Robin Humes and Don Veino

We gratefully acknowledge the heritage and motivation provided by the Iron Dancer series, which we completed in the spring of 2008 and inspired us in creating the Contra Challenge.  We hope you crazy few go on to achieve recognition from both groups!
